Description
of Profit Analysis
An
in-depth Profit Analysis, customized specifically for your organization,
shows your current expenses, and provides you
with information on alternative carrier plans, which may reduce
your expenses.
This Profit Analysis is performed by studying the telephone bills
submitted by your organization.
Calling
Patterns
First,
your "Carrier Consultant" will review your bills to determine
your calling patterns. Calling patterns means how you use your
telephone. Some of the following information defines a company's
calling patterns:
- Destination
of long distance calls:
- Intrastate
(calls within the same state)
- Interstate
(calls to outside the State)
- International
(calls to other countries)
- LATA/Local
Toll
- Origination
of 800# calls:
- Intrastate
(calls from within the same state)
- Interstate
(calls from outside the state)
- International
(calls from other countries)
- Data Requirements :
Current
Expenses
Then
the charges from your current carrier(s) are reviewed to reveal
how much you are paying, and for what you are being charged. A
detailed study reveals such information as:
- Dial-tone costs
- Data costs
- Per
minute cost for intrastate and interstate calls
- Per
minute costs for the international countries you call
- Billing
increments (6-second, 30-second, or full-minute)
- Monthly
recurring, service, & membership fees
- Local
loop charges for T-1 dedicated access
- Discounts
or penalties
Comparing
Carriers
Once
your organization's calling patterns and current expenses have
been determined, Carrier Consulting can review other long distance
providers and compare their price and services against the price
and services from your current carrier.
By
matching your specific calling patterns to a carrier which best
suits your needs, Carrier Consulting can offer you cost-cutting
opportunities. For example, if your current carrier gives you
very good interstate rates, but most of your calling is intrastate
(within your same state), you would be better off with a carrier
that features very low intrastate prices.
Carrier
Options for Network Optimization
Carrier
Consulting then presents your options, including a recommendation
for the optimal carrier(s). Although cost savings are a primary
goal, the optimal carrier is determined by other factors besides
strictly current rates. Issues such as term plan restrictions,
fixed rates, carrier promotions, and potential rate increases
are considerations.
For
example, one carrier may have the lowest rates if the client commits
to a term plan, but if the specific carrier has strict penalties
for cancellation and does not guarantee the rates, it could be
risky. Another carrier may have slightly higher prices, but features
fixed rates and does not require a term contract These types of
factors are reviewed when making a carrier recommendation.
Your
Network Analysis may recommend a combination of carriers to achieve
maximum efficiency. Your outbound long distance service, 800#
service and calling card service may best be served by three different
carriers. Or it may be advisable to split your outbound or inbound
800 traffic between two carriers, providing network back-up in
the unlikely event of a carrier outage.
Because
we are a consulting organization and not a salesperson for a single
provider, we can recommend more than one carrier
if that is in our client's best interest.
Ultimately,
you, the client, choose which carrier(s) you want from among the
options presented. |
